Oracle 10g - Presales / Technical Consultant (Oracle & Windows); Surrey; required to join a leading European software solutions house to work in the professional services / delivery environment to provide consultancy, presales, implementation and production support to clientele.

You will have a strong background of Oracle database's and 10g, excellent skills with the scoping, sizing, requirement gathers, implementation, delivery and pre - post production support of Oracle database solutions, 10g a must – 11g would be advantageous. Good all round general exposure to Oracle on Windows Platform, Windows Servers, Server Hardware & Operation infrastructure, storage too (Clustered Servers, Blades, SANs). You will need a background working in physical and virtualised environments and working with Oracle RAC. You should also have some exposure in PL/SQL and Shell scripting.

The Opportunity:

Working alongside a DBA your main responsibilities will include:

Performance tuning
Index & table maintenance
Back up & recovery

Key Skills & background :

Essential:

Previous commercial background as a production / development DBA, that includes database architectural and administration skills
PostgreSQL or Oracle background
Background of performance tuning hardware & databases, and knowledge of back up & recovery methodologies
Background of query tuning, replication & clustering, and ANSI SQL knowledge
The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, communication and team working skills, and be self motivated in approach
Flexibility with working hours is essential to accommodate business requirements

Desirable:

Postgres utilities, subversion source code, Plpgsql languages and shell scripting with Bash
Data analysis, and SQL Server administration background
